Dear Rob:
Amazing things are happening around us in Higuey, District No. 7. Let me share this story with you.
One year ago we had clinics at San Pedro Church a very poor neighborhood in Higuey, at the same time every night
we were having meetings at Villa Crystal church, it was a very troubled meeting but I had learned to go on no matter
what happened. One morning around 10:00 Pm at San Pedro second day clinic a white Lady (anyone who has lighter
skin is considered white) approached to you and shared a short English conversation with you, she had the following
health picture: High blood pressure, kidney problems and felt tired very often. I honestly remember your suggestions:
make exercises, drink a lot water, stop smoking, eat vegetables and stop drinking alcohol. At least your best
recommendation was to be Christian. Last recommendation was not good accepted by the Lady at that time.
We gave her a reading glasses, medicine and vitamins. A January afternoon when taking a nap, my mobile phone start
to ring, sister Carmen from San Pedro church call me and tell me, Pastor could it be possible to call the Gringo because
Monin (The Lady I am talking about) wants to talk to him.
This Puerto Rican lady that came two times to our clinics with stomach and respiratory complaints, was very satisfied
with our attention at that time. Well, time passed away and there were no information about her, till a sister from
membership dedicated some time to share with her biblical studies and questioned about you and wanted to know the
right reason because you do this kind of work, only satisfaction she had was the book you gave her "Steps to Christ"
and read many times as she could.
On January she got seriously sick and made me be called thru sister Carmen, a good missioner woman who spent much
time during her sickness taking special cares of her. As a respond to previous call, as quick as could I went to make a
visit personally, apparently not deeply interested on gospel made me the following questions. Do you remember me?,
I´m the white lady who went two times to your clinics and had an English conversation with the tall American. Why
does he does this kind of work? He looked like angel to me! I can´t forget his face. I have him on mind frequently and
still remember his suggestions; stop drinking alcohol and accept Jesus Christ and be saved. That was a motive to go to
Villa Crystal evangelistic meeting, take a sit and listen that man. Is there any opportunity to be saved by Jesus Christ no
matter how sick am I?.
Well she accepted Jesus Christ that same day in afternoon after a hard struggle with herself, finally she surrender to
Jesus Christ and decided to be Christian. As soon as took the greatest decision that every human being have to do. I
made her a promise, as soon as you be saved by Jesus and start to live new life in Christ you’ll be my sister forever on
heaven and earth. She was baptized next week after an extensive sin confession and dropping tears from eyes, I really
understood was very convinced about gospel and Jesus Christ salvation no matter who you are and what you has done.
so, as she still was getting worse I took her to hospital with no money on my pocket just praying God to make a
wonderful miracle as he usually does, at public hospital found a sister from church who use to work there only three
times a week and Wednesday is her day off and that day she went to work unfortunately making an stop on her
vacations, and helped us to make every medical study and all test free at all.
I was struggling with the lady sickness during two month visiting her three times a day, just to pray and share biblical
reading to make her feel calm a little better. She was close to give up and expect death as only way to make this over
and let us rest of our burdens, she thought that became to be problem to us, because many brothers and sisters from
church were taking care of her.
Well, as she was getting worse I was intended to get a way to send her to America, as she was an American citizen
maybe can find a solution to all her health problem on an American hospital, tried thru all way available to make contact
with her relatives in America exclusively with her sons, a lady gave me a phone number and no body could answer. Her
belly was growing like and inflated balloon, they drained a lot of fluid from her belly, even was not enough to stop the
problem. I prayed God and asked to do something urgent, after that prayer a soon called me from La Florida as asked
about her mother’s condition I spoke almost an hour, he refused to believe why his brother were hiding this king of
information, because others brothers thought we (Dominicans) were trying to take some advantage from situation and
get some money from them. He decided to travel to Puerto Rico that same day and get proper documentation a take his
mother out of the country ad receive special cares at an American hospital. He came two days later on Saturday, at last
contact with him I promised to pick him up at Dominican ship port because he came from Puerto Rico thru the ferry.
As I made that promise only having 900 Pesos from Thursday to Friday told my wife to make any arrangement at
home because all money I have is to by fuel for jeep and go to Santo Domingo. I left early to ship port with not gasoline
enough to return but left by faith expecting for a God blessing when were at ship port I prayed "Oh my lord you know
there is not gasoline enough to return back, not matter is Saturday let the guy we came to look for to buy some gasoline
as he is coming from America maybe he has some American money on pocket, and let us be at Higuey as well as we
left from", we meet the guy and explained us that came with no money just expecting a support from somebody in
America, before leaving the ship port I returned my face to God one more again and said, "Today is Saturday I
understand how hard is for a seven day Adventist to make a travel a day like this, please let me get somebody known
who plans to go to La Romana , San Pedro or Higuey and be so king to by gasoline to accomplish our mission",
suddenly I lady is coming from the main ship port hall and approach to make and I acted suspiciously as the only
relative waiting for and hugged her and helped with all her stuff and her grand daughter and asked me if it could be
possible to take her from Higuey, during the oversea journey was praying God about to receive some help as soon as
she gets To Santo Domingo.
So, driving way to San Pedro made an stop on a gas station and took Rd$125 from my pocket all money I had, and the
lady was placed to give some additional money and jeep tank was completely full to go on.
We arrived to Higuey, left the lady at home and drove straight ached to hospital, when this man found her mom on bed,
kissed her, hugged and cried a lot, a few minutes latter he was over his knees in front all of us and doctors and nurses
ad said let me say something, I’m Pentecostal and want to be forgive from Adventist because I’ve been talking bad of
them during many times ago, crying and asking for forgiveness gave a hug to everybody around him. That same day
tried to buy a ship ticket to take his mother out of the country to Puerto Rican hospital, but was too late, there were no
time left to do it, ticket expectancy were over, no chance to get one till Sunday afternoon at ship port on Santo
Domingo. On Sunday afternoon we used the jeep as ambulance , only way to take her to Santo Domingo no matter of
her condition we wasted almost 30 minutes to fit that sick woman inside the jeep and make her to be so comfortable as
we could. after almost an hour we left to Santo Domingo ship port when arrived the lady was not accept because of her
health condition, we returned back to Higuey and arrived almost at 11:00PM, I was disappointed with God an almost
angry against him, inside of me was having a fight because he never let those peoples leave out of country, my
dissolution against god forced me to make an stop on the road an cry, because I felt unable to help them and went apart
of road and cried, maybe discharged my anger and tried to asked God and explanation about what recently happened.
When I came home was very tired, Dairy my older daughter accompanied me during the process and when we left the
sick lady at her old home, because we decided to let her die at her own home in peace as she asked for it. When arrived
home tried to sleep for a while, but before prayed God and asked to let the woman died, I gave up. Went to bed and
tried to sleep for while, at 5:00AM my cellular rang, and sister Carmen told me "Pastor, Monin (Lady name) passed
away", suddenly I felt rather better and slept until 10:00 Am. The woman’s last words were "Tell the tall American
man, I accepted Jesus, let me die"
During funeral service came other lady son from America after an briefer conversation with his brother decided to
accepted Jesus Christ and people of San Pedro neighborhood were talking good about what peoples from did to that
woman no matter who she were and condition. At the cemetery a man said something really good, " I invite the crowd
present today to accept Jesus Christ and belong to Seven day Adventist church as I will do, because God is with them
and recently understood are God’s people". Well two weeks later we started an evangelistic campaign and are four
people ready to be baptize this weekend.
FBI and DEA were on pursuit of that lady during last ten year, she had poisoned three men and killed a very known
mafia guy in America ten years ago and came to hide to Dominican Republic.
Now I understand why God never let that woman to leave, she repented of her sin and testified how great thou art no
matter what you did, who you are and where are you coming from.
God Bless you.

Healing Leaves Global Mission Report May 2008
An Incredible Story
Monin came to one of our street clinics and later to several of the night meetings in the Dominican City of Higuey
neary a year ago. I must tell you that I never saw Monin except that she was really sloshed on rum. It was obvious that
she had a great need and sensed that we had something that would fill that need but she never responded to any of our
invitations to accept the Lord and let Him change her life. She always put her head down and cried during alter calls
but her doubts kept her in slavery. I must confess I had forgotten about her until I received the following story from
Pastor Miguel. Take the time to read this story. It will warm your heart!!
